But nowadays it is hard to find chemical free rice to eat. It is very harmful to eat those rice which is produced using the different chemicals and insect killing positions. Directly we are not eating rice; we are eating poison.

That’s why I am going to teach you about the Traditional Nepali organic rice production method in this article. This method is implementing by my grandfather to my father generation. You don’t have to eat the chemical mixed rice after reading this article. There are many leading countries who are producing a lot rice in the world. China, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand are producing most of rice around the world .According to the research and data most of the rice are producing in Asian country.

Especially rice will give such a nice production where the irrigation system is good. A lot watering is necessary for rice. If you are staying in the dry place then the rice can’t be produce. Without water we can’t imagine the production of rice. So let’s begin the Traditional Nepali organic rice production method.

What are the steps of growing rice?

Preparation of seeds for seedling

There are many kinds of productive rice varieties available in the market. You can choose any of them as per your requirement and weathers.

Few of them will have white color and few of them will have brown color. Different sizes and different colors rice can be available in the market. But make sure you shouldn’t remove the cover of the rice. If you remove all the covers of rice then it will not germinate.

There are different varieties available in the markets. Such as Basmati rice, jasmine rice, Sushi rice, Sticky rice and many more. But I prefer to east Basmati rice. You can choose any of them. But most of the people prefer to eat brown rice. It depends on your desire. The main important things is that every rice can be produced by using same traditional Nepali organic rice production method.

You can purchase brown rice seeds via amazon also.  After selecting the perfect rice seeds you have to mix with cow dung. But it is not necessary to use cow dung; if it is available it is best. Otherwise you can use the buffalo dung or ox dung. You have to mix all the seeds with cow dung perfectly with water.

Now you have to put those rice seeds in any types of baskets or directly put in the floor also. Collect all the seeds from top and cover with trees leaf and spray few sprinkle of water from all the side and leave it until the two to three days.

Now you will see the germination after three to four days in your rice seeds. You have to check time to time those rice seeds otherwise it will decay very badly. This is a traditional method to germinate rice seeds perfectly.

Plants preparation method after germination for Traditional Nepali Organic Rice Production Method

Now you have to prepare a tiny land block to sow all the rice seeds germination. First of all you have to plough your field. You can use mini tiller or you can use a traditional Nepali method also to plough field with water. And you have to leave this farm with water until its decay. You will get different kinds of smell after soil decay.

Again you should to plough your block with water. You should have full of water in that field otherwise your all the seeds will decay or damage. Now you have to make it flat using any kinds of tools. You can use different kinds of tools. But in my village I am using a wood flat plague to make it flat. Otherwise your rice seeds will go in different positions.

You have to check the water by touching time to time. If it is changing into hot you have to replace the cold water again. After three to four days the root of your rice seeds will start to spread in soil. Now after successfully installing all the seeds; you have to remove all the waters from your block. Otherwise your Traditional Nepali organic rice production method will be fail.  

Remember one thing you have to put water time to time in that block otherwise different kinds of insects and disease can appear in your rice seeds. If any kinds of harmful symptom is appearing then immediately put water. This thing will help to overcome the harmful insects and give nutrition to your rice seeds.

After 1.5 to 2 month your seed will reach up to ten to fifteen inch tall. June last to July is the perfect time to transplant your rice seeds in all over the farm. Just you have to check time to time

Make field

You have to start to prepare a fertile land after reaching the rice seeds ten to fifteen inches tall. You should have mix all the cow dung and ox dung compost in your farm with soil before one week ago of plantation. Try to make mix thickly with the compost. It will make your land more fertile and help you to get more organic rice production.

Now you have to plough all the farm with the water. You have to plough all the field using any kinds of tool. If you have flat type of land then it will easy to plough with tractor but if you are staying in rural place or in the hilly area then you should to use a Traditional Nepali technique to plough field.

You have to leave until four to five days to make your soil perfectly decay. You will get different kinds of smell from your soil after successfully preparation. You can remove all the weeds and bury them inside the soil. It will also help you to produce more organic rice. Removing weed also one of the popular Traditional Nepali organic rice production method.

Again second time also you have to plough your field to make it perfectly decay and make it flat at the last using different types of tool. If you are using a modern type of tractor then it will automatically make flat land but if you are doing all these things in traditional way you have to work little bit hard. Now you have to fill all you blocks with water.  Otherwise your rice will die after transplant.

Transplant method

Now this is the time to uproot your all the rice plants from the previous blocks and keep them separately by making nut. If you put all the rice seeds in one place it will be hard to transplant.

Transplant all the rice seeds in previously prepared field with your hand; if you want to do in traditional way. But it will take little bit time but if you have a rice planting machine then it will be easy for you to plant your rice. Most of the Nepalese peoples use their Traditional Nepali organic rice production method during transplating time.

Just you have to bury your rice inside the soil. Don’t leave it in water. If you keep your rice seeds in the water it will die in few days. But I know rice plants are one of the strongest plant. It can survive until two to three days also in full sunlight also. After doing all the steps. Your rice transplant is successfully completed.

Take Care technique

After all the rice plants roots successfully installation in soil; you have to cut off all the waters from your organic rice farm block. Otherwise it will not give you to grow fast because it will damage the stem of your rice.

You have to remove the unnecessary weeds and grass time to time. Otherwise the weeds will take all the compost itself and it will not give to grow your rice perfectly. You can remove the weeds and grass as possible in every month. But don’t try to remove weeds during its flowering time otherwise your production may reduce.

Pest, Insects and disease solution

There are different kinds of harmful insects, disease and pest can appear inside you rice farm. I am not suggesting you to use chemical to kill those insects and disease. Different kinds of harmful insects such as Rice skipper , black bug , Rice trips , Ant , Mole cricket , Zigzag leafhopper , Rice bug , Plant hopper , Field cricket , Green horned caterpillar  , Grasshopper , Rice hips   , Rice leaf folder and different insects can appear in your rice plant . To solve this problem you can plant different kinds of beans, flowers, pulse and many more plants. This things will distract the insects from rice.

This is an organic and natural method to overcome these kinds of insects. You can plant more trees also near. If you plant more trees then the birds can come there and they can also reduce the insects easily. There may be appear many types of dangerous disease. Such as sheath blight, bacterial blights, Turgor disease, blast any many more disease can attack your farm. You can remove all the infected leaf and whole plant. Otherwise it will increase the infection to all over your farm. So you have to check time to time.

Harvesting

After 3.5 to 4 months later your rice will start to change its color from green to brown. The panicles of rice will be also golden color . Now it is the right time to harvest. Otherwise you will lose more production. You have to harvest in time to make secure from different insects, birds and animals. They will prefer to eat those raw rice. You can cut rice using the brush cutter also but if you have lots of lots friends you can ask help to them to cut rice in traditional way .

You can separate the panicles  from its stems and you can store them in cool and dry place. If you store cold place; it will decay fast. You can store the grass of rice also. The ox, cow and different kinds of domestic animals can eat which will be also very useful. You can create different kinds of handy crafts also using those rice grass.
